This may sound like a dumb question so please don't make fun of me. Considering that the oil prices are going up does that mean that the USD would be going up also?

I believe there possibly another way to answer this query.
The problem is that like a currency pair, 1 half is expressed in terms of the other. Either side of the equation are both changeable and thus always changing.

Say x is oil, y is the dollar then at time t:
x=y t

If the supply/demand equilibrium of x varies so that provide grows 10% quicker than demand over a year, then when y stays constant:
1.1x y t 1 or x=y/1.1 Oil is currently about 10% cheaper
If we reverse the supply/demand equilibrium afterward:
0.9x=y t 1 or x=y/0.9 Oil is currently 10% dearer

What if... I guess u must be a scholar in economics in your college, college times.

The confidence in the markets and the fact that the geo-political situation isn't in the main pages nowadays, reduced the worries of the investors and the price of cruide oil has been sliding for many weeks. In case you haven't opened short positions along the way, do not do it now- you already missed the train... now we ought to wait until the prices break through 86 or 81 before it begins a new bullish session or resumes slipping. It appears like it is going to correct upward and if it does, it may retest the break-down level .

My friends, it is always so with commodities, especially oil, rise, get men following some news occurs along with the price plummets.

A couple of days will be new sanctions on Iran's petroleum, some other problem in the Arab world or some other new, also will probably be launched in another price increase.

If you can open positions right now that support 74, 73 or 69 at worst a period of two weeks you may have a great profit.

It's been moving like mad nowadays Its been moving like mad downward even when we had great news. I look at Crude Oil and im confuse. I am aware that global incertainty is bad for oil, but I dont understand why we keep moving downward all the time. Is it because the summer is over and people dont travel?

Its been moving like crazy down even if we had great news. I look at Crude Oil and much more im confuse. I know that global incertainty is poor for oil, but that I dont even know why we keep moving down all of the time. Is it because the summer is over and people dont travel just as far as they did? The situation with Iran is still brewing. The USA has Iran thoroughly surrounded with all the focus of maintaining the Straits of Hormuz open. Up to 30 percent of the planet's oil supply passes through the Straits. Why do you believe that the U.S. deployed 4 aircraft carriers in the region?

Accusing Iran about nuclear weapon development is a farce. Each of the U.S. is trying to do is to secure the oil supply and maintaining the Straits open is critical towards attainment that goal. As long as the situation stays status quo, the price of oil will stay suppressed.

Moreover, economies around the world are still struggling to keep any semblance of expansion. The market is expecting entire demand for oil to collapse as the economies continues to be weak. As such, the price of oil will struggle to rally.

Having said the above, if war breaks out in the Middle East, all hell breaks loose and you may see the price of oil increase at a relative short span of time.

Have you guys have a look at commo?

When I look at sugar/coffee it's seems it's being bought greatly at each bottoms...

Oil too but not as strong as the ones that are soft.

Can't wait to see the outcome of it at the next few weeks/months.

Oil appears to have gained support from the mid to high $84's. I believe it's likely to go up into the 90's short term and break $100 in January.

Friday knocked oil back down to the former support area giving everyone another opportunity to load up before the next leg up. Gold and silver are at attractive levels . Let's see what this week brings us.

This may sound like a dumb question so please don't make fun of me. Considering that the oil prices are going up does this mean that the USD would be going up also? Think about the crude oil demand and supply.
