Thread: Broker Cheating Me?

  1. #1
    Hello,
I am still trying to get my mind around if that is possible, I'd appreciate everyones feedback and any assistance with testing/proving that is possible/happening.
I've a dedied server in New Jersey, NY in order to be close to my broker's server loed in Equinix NY4 (at least that's what they told me...).
So I am visiting latencies of 100ms in MT4, while when I ping the login server I get a constant 7ms.

Can the broker be utilizing some form of latency arbitrage or comparable to work against me?

I have obfused the details in the screen capture, but if it be shown to be happening I will provide details of the broker so others can avoid.
I contacted the broker relating to this , but did not get any response, so that's why I've been suspicious.
    Thanks all. .

Could be, but 100ms does not seem to be delay. I run about 200ms with my broker. Never really considered it a scam. If it had been moments, as often reported by people with shady brokers then I would be concerned.

Maybe, however there are lots of explanations like - where can they receive the feed from initially? Likely IB in the US, not too srue? Perhaps that's the host you want to be close to but NY sounds like a good bet.

Very difficult to know as ping isn't typically a huge issue for customers tbh unless it is quite large.

More likely they simply mixed up sh*t by injury and gave you wrong informations. I would betthey are loed in LD4 instead of NY4. Give it a try and join from a european based VPS. .

For all orders utilize take-profit orders in combination with stop-loss orders to manage open positions....
Or use limitations orders with TP SL points...
the broker can't do anything with such orders

So I have heard back from the broker, which I'll let you know now is FXOpen.
Apparently what has happened is they've moved their servers to Latvia to be near their liquidity aggregator, Soft-FX.
I'd confirmed this with my own IP testing but had thought it was an error with the IP loor, a hack, or a temporary fix following a recent data feed Valve:

As I'm based in AU I have put some more questions to them to see if it is the exact same for other FXOpen subsidiaries and will update if I hear more.
However, as it is stands, for AU customers at least, FXOpen is looking like a bust if you would like to utilize a dedied host to get low latency with them.
To be honest they did offer to put me up with a VPS at Latvia, though I have attempted VPS's in the past and found their performance considerably lacking.
I'd need to still question even if you did buy a VPS at Latvia, you are still a ways from NY or London at which the bulk of transactions are happening.

I gather by that you mean they're a'market maker'. I'm using their ECN account (https://www.fxopen.com.au/en/trading-accounts/).
Are you saying with one of those accounts they're still trading against me?
If that's true then where do I go?
I thought by choosing an ECN account by an ASIC regulated broker I would be all good, no?
