Thread: Oanda Box Options

Just curious if anybody has attempted the box choices? It seems like a nice prospect. Let us state if price is pretty much just sitting there and not actually going down or up, would not it be easy to attain some very good profits? I am practicing with it right now and I appear to be hitting them pretty great.

You've lost me there. If you can not derive any information from that, then this indies that there is not any correlation between their payout and the likelihood of achieving that payout (meaning it's essentially random) then you can benefit from the situation by simply taking the higher-paying option. If it's possible to draw any information from that and there is a correlation between their payout and the likelihood of achieving that payout, then you can benefit from the situation by simply putting a straight wager (a trade) in the market in the direction of the lower-paying option.

I will try to explain the best I can.

About the Oanda platform, you see a chart. You can place a box, so you may choose the size of it and in which you wish to place it. As soon as you click the mouse, then a window pops up and you can place in the dollar amount that you want to buy the box for. You can also select if price will either hit or miss the box. Lets say, a individual makes a box also buys it for $5, the popup window will automatically show you exactly what the profit is whether it hits or misses. In the event you choose hit, and price touches the box, the box will disappear and you will get what you paid to get the box and the profit you were given. And the exact same goes for overlook, Should you buy a box and select skip, and price overlooks the box, then you have the profit.

Based on how big the box and the position of the box, this will ascertain how much profit you get.

Another thing that you may do. Should you buy a box, and you realize you put it at the wrong spot, you cannot cancel it because you have purchased it but, you can sell it back for a certain percentage of everything you paid for it so you do not lose all of the money that you paid. I hope I explained it right.

Yeah, I thought that was interesting. However, maybe it was the time I was trying them , however, the risk/reward was simply so low. Like I was buying $1000 miss options and just getting $50 at a time. Now, in the grand scheme of things, 5 percent in approximately ten minutes isn't all that bad, but I also thought to myself. . .what would happen if the price took a dive and touched on my box? ...I dunno, the price was fairly directional, so it never occurred the 7 or 6 times I tried it. . .however I wanted to do a better experiment with it because I think my box was attracted just about 20 pips away from the current price. . .during any type of volatility this would be killer. . .and maybe they take that into consideration (I was trying this at substantially lower volatility periods - such as after 1pm EST on not one news days). So perhaps through the earlier hours, the boxes are worth much more.

Additionally, I tried oanda box choices before. I think the benefit for the risk ratio is significantly less and with all these complaints of stop hunting at oanda (I personally had couple of terrible experience with them but money involved was less), I think that it would be helpful to get this done at higher time frames where price isn't too close to the box. Only my view.

This comment is quite amusing. However, the one that I had when attempting to work out how to perform the box option with Oanda.
