Here's a brief article about the basics of the way ECNs work and a list of banks that provide liquidity to the primary ones.

I have read in an euromoney post that FxAll is the selection of several corporate treasury departments, because they offer post-trade services that their competitors dont. There werent any particulars mentioned tho.

Thanks, shrike. That's good to understand. Would you point us to some more up-to-date listing?

Do you understand what FXall's average daily volume is? Last I http://www.hedgefundsreview.com/publ...ml?page=463297, Currenex was gt;$100B/daily, though still a far cry from EBS. Too bad the amounts are not reported more often, I am interested to see where FXall, Baxter and Lava live.

If you visit the homepages of those companies, they all have a listing of participating banks.

    guess i was wrong.

Over 700 institutions have united the FXall platform and our trading volumes continue to rise quickly. Annual volumes exceeded $9.8 trillion in 2006, up from $6.7 trillion in 2005 and $4.9 trillion in 2004.

FXall is integrated to more than 60 of the world's major foreign exchange banks. Between them, these market manufacturers and service providers offer clients comprehensive research and post-trade providers, in addition to the deepest source of liquidity available on the market.
