Thread: MT4 says quotold versionquot wont update itself

I've never seen that before and I am trying to avoid having to download/install fresh edition, but I've got two examples of IBFX demo running and they are both showing Old Version bottom right corner nevertheless they will not go and update themselves?

Anyone seen this? Can I force it to update (cant find it) ? )

    thx

Do you regret upgrading yet? I do. I'd build 509 and MQ force-upgraded me to 600 recently (was 601, then 602, a new version daily ). I can not keep altering EAs to work on the newer builds.

I've locked the MQ Windows folder so they cannot update me again without my choice. Fortunately I had build 509 backed up, therefore I was able to delete build 600 and revert back.

I hate MQ and what they are doing. They make it tough to innovate with EAs and indis, and they are upsetting a lot of the end users for the sake of satisfying the brokers (criminals).

If you've build 509 running it could be a fantastic idea of merely copying (the entire folder) it to another loion, this may effectively make a backup of it and you'll have the ability to continue trading with it until it's not supported by MQ.

It's also indispensable to compare if an EA/Indi works exactly the same manner with a build along with the other.

So you're saying you have a choice. You're able to keep on running the steady build 509 and also test the new build and switch over when you're ready. Can you really do this with other platforms like cTrader for example? For me personally this is one major advantage of MT4.

they're encouraging innovation of EAs and indis with the addition of new features to MQL4. I am looking forward to updating my code (if the new version is steady ) and eliminating those workarounds for the limitations of the old MQL4. In the meantime, I will keep on communiing with the old MQL4 which still functions with the new terminal so there has been very little disruption.

You exhibit a whole lot of immaturity by calling brokers offenders and endangering your problems on these. Brokers don't like MT4. It causes them a lot of hassle and costs them a lot of money. They simply provide it since the end users demand it.

Most brokers delivered emails/posted in their website something similar to the following:

On June 1, 2012 the firm Metaquotes will quit behind Metatrader 4 trading terminal below the 416 version (Build 416) completely. Trading and updates on these versions will not be available.

We kindly request you to upgrade your trading terminals by downloading the latest version from our website.

I suggest you download the most recent version from your brokers website and you might want to backup any indiors, ea's and templates etc..

    Hope this helps,
