Thread: 8- Hours and Yearly Timeframe?

  1. #1
    Hello Guy's
Can it be feasible to have a 8-Hour's and yearly interval option in a timeframe bar?
    If it is than how?
    Thank's

I believe that your enquiry might be better put on the programming forum where Metatrader developers congregate.

I do know there's a time period multiplier for MT4 that would enable 8 hour charts.

Another area to search is the metatarder website.

    Hope that this helps...

I think since data only goes back into the 70's annual would be somewhat silly, youd have so or 30 pubs. Im not certain if there are info packages you can buy to get years or not though. As bars, search the forum for the period_converter indior and follow the instructions and it could create any chart you want. Though you need to open an offline chart it'll update and accept trades realtime.

    Hey PipHacker,

This is the answer to your question. Yes and yes (though not in the timeframe bar). Period_Converter is what you need as previously stated--it's a tool that converts standard time frames. Anthonybaker gave clear instructions, so here is what he stated for converting a 5 minutes. Into a 10 min. The exact same thought might be used for 4 hr to 8 hr:

it's possible to use 'Period_converter. Mq4' script to make nonstandard timeframes.
To make M10 period you need to:
    1. Open M5 chart.
    2. Publish the 'Period_converter. Mq4' file that was MQL4 taken in the 'Script' listing of the 'Navigator' window into the chart.
    3. In the 'Common' tab, check 'Allow DLL imports' and transparent 'Verify DLL function calls'
    4. In the 'Inputs' properties tab, please define 'PeriodMultiplier' variable value to 2 (you'll get M5*2 = M10 information).
    5. Click on OK
    6. Open M10 chart in offline mode ('File Open Offline' menu). M10 chart will be updated every 2 sec (by default) during M5 chart with the attached 'Period_converter. Mq4' script is opened.

I've attached Period_Converter_1, 2 and 3 because in the event that you apply the indior to more than 1 chart it stops updating.

As for yearly charts, or charts longer than 1 month, this is also possible but requires a separate indior that I only discovered. Publish the Period_Converter_MN indior to some chart and place 12 in the PeriodMultiplier input. Open the M12 chart in offline mode and you've got your chart.

You guys are extremely welcome. As a bonus, allow me to also add this indior (periodcon) which may actually be greater than the Period_Converter_Opt. It appears to maintain working when applied to numerous charts.
