LOL, I will also like to determine just how this rumor started. Maybe a film is being filmed by Oliver Stone about it rigth now.

Not true at all. There are lot of errors that have to be fixed. . .after recompiling. Meta trader doesnt have translator for have to recompile them.

Kind of off topic, but I really don't see brokers who conform to NFA regulations losing customer base. It will most likely be a necessity for any US Trader to use a broker who's registered with the NFA anyways. (For their protection of course )

I ran across a script which will convert MQL4 source to MQL5 - didn't save the link since, as was stated, it will probably be years before a full-scale move to MT5 and I am convinced there will be a number of such scripts out there in the future.

I really don't know the considering Metaquotes - after four decades in the IT business, I've never seen any other software supplier make such enormous changes with such disregard for users.

Does anyone know of a broker that supplies a free API? I'd rather write my own code in Python...

Here's a script which converts MQL4 code to MQL5 code was designed by http://www.mql4.com/users/keiji and http://www.mql4.com/users/circlesquares on another forum.

First, download these files and put them in your own Metatrader 4 / experts / include folder
- mt4accountinfo.mqh
- mt4string.mqh
- mt4datetime.mqh
- mt4objects_3. mqh
- mt4timeseries_3. Mqh

Subsequently, download the latest edition of the rewrite script and put it in your Metatrader 4 / experts / scripts folder:
- mq4tomq5rewrite_sample_v5. Mq4


To get further directions or newer scripts do a google search sans the quotes...
