Thread: MT4 platforms referencing AppData/Roaming/Metaquotes/Terminal

  1. #1
I opened my MT4 platforms tonight from multiple brokers and they're all referencing documents in AppData/Roaming/Metaquotes/Terminal rather than the installed MT4 folders in Program Files. As a result, not one of my own EAs, templates, custom and profiles indiors are accessible from my MT4 platform.
I restarted my PC and tried launching the MT4 platforms directly from the Program Files MT4 folders, however once the platforms had opened, they still incorrectly referenced documents in AppData/Roaming/Metaquotes/Terminal.

Does anybody know why this is happening?
    Jud

That is how Metaquotes does because the new 600 construct.

If you want all of your resources to be with the usual path, you must stick to the Skenobi post above.

Hi Skenobi, My MT4 desktop shortcut references the normal document path C:/Program Files/MT4. But, once I have opened the platform utilizing the shortut, the platform then cites the AppData/Roaming/Metaquotes/Terminal/portable.

This just began happening last night for the first time. I had been concerned there was a possible malware or virus which was doing so, but I contacted customer support of one of my brokers and he had been experiencing the same thing.

The problem is that I can't access my EAs, custom indiors and templates.

Do you understand why this has suddenly started happening and what I can do to rectify it?

Is the MT4 program shortcut targeting terminal.exe using the /mobile choice?

    E.g C:\[your broker]\terminal.exe /mobile

That is standard behaviour since at least a half a year ago.
If you don't start your terminal with the mobile switch.
So, the question is why your problem surfaced now? It might indie that your platform hasn't upgraded so far which should not be possible.
Running in mobile style will recompile all your indiors/ea and so on. This might cause incompatibilities and also a failure to run.
Therefore you should leave just the binaries (.ex4) from the folders and evacuate all resources (.mq4) someplace else. Must not depart resources.

Seemingly you made an error here.
You need to edit just the Target area of the properties of the shortcut and insert /mobile in the end (beyond the quote marks and with a blank inbetween).
I assume in your case this could look (exactly!) Like this: C:\Program Files\MT4\terminal.exe /portable
