Thread: Does technical analysis really work, or are we all fooling ourselves?

  1. #1
I’ve been questioning everything lately. I see patterns, trend lines, supports, resistances... and then the price breaks them as if they didn’t exist. I start to wonder if technical analysis is a collective illusion that we keep together to not accept that the market is pure masquerade chaos.

Look, if you expect a line drawn by a human to predict the world economy, you better turn off the platform and see Netflix again.

    It's not magic, it's probability.

Well, I've been winning with pure price action for months now, I don't need any more, the problem isn't technical analysis, it's you.

Interesting reflection. I have also felt that many times, especially after a run of SL. But then I remember that banks also use AT. Something will.

Of course the banks use it, but they do it to see where the retailers are. They use it to sweep us, not to operate like us.

So what do you propose, that we throw everything away and operate by throwing a coin?

  8. #8
I operate with market structures and volume. Nothing to do with those "strategies" on YouTube. Maybe the technical analysis fails because it is taught wrong, not because it doesn't work.

The problem is that everyone wants to win without understanding the macro context. You can’t expect an EMA to tell you when a central bank comes in.

I don't know about you, but when I understood that technical analysis is to interpret, not to predict, everything changed.
