Thread: Difference between demo and real trading

  1. #1
I am very new to FX, been trading on a demo account from several brokers for fourteen days. I am quite constantly making profit, therefore I'd love to start doing actual trades. I have been practicing mainly with an Alpari demo account, and intend to register a real account there once prepared. My trades go over a period of 10-15 minutes usually. The problem I am getting here is that it just does not make sense that you create such easy profit with hardly any experience, there has to be something I am overlooking. The question I'd like to ask is: what is going to be difference between demo account and actual trading ? The only thing I am conscious of is higher spreads through news (I don't believe this reflects on demo accounts with Alpari). Any tips are welcome.

In fact, having spoken to Alpari they describe their demo account as a manual and their actual account differs. I noticed this running an ea on a real and demo account. This is not the exact same on every broker however. My GO account is precisely the exact same demonion as actual.

Having said that, if you're able to earn money on demonion you will earn money on actual that you do not allow the fact it is real money get the better of you. Your very best choice is to start with a small amount and build it with achievement. If it takes you a couple of months more than you originally thought to make your countless I am sure you can live with it!

Can not comment if implementation is easier in Demo, but there's another huge difference between Demo and Live - Plogy.

Alpari Demo vs Live: Demo allways has smooth and instantaneous implementation. Live is somewhat slower especially for bigger lotsize and during high volatility.

And... please, please dont overanalyze and complie your egy when going live. It's simple to do so when you're playing real cash. You are NOT overlooking anything in the event that you regularly make profit on a presentation.

When nothing is online as is the case of a demo account, then youpersonally, and I can almost guarantee that, will start trading differently once your very own hard earned cash is online. Although you don't think so, I'm sure virtually every trader that has gone out of demonion to live can attest to this.

In addition, with ECNs you'll probably encounter slippage, liquidity issues (limits/stops not being implemented) which don't factor in to demos. Market Manufacturers will also requote, among other things which could affect profitability...

    Greatest,

    Veng.

This is quite interesting, do you have any idea how much time we are talking about in the event that you're saying a bit slower ?

2 weeks is probably only luck. Trade for 3 profitable months in a row and in the event that you can do that you maybe ready to start a very small live account to get a feel for the plogy.
