Yes, Korea was less modern compared to Japan (they were called the hermit kingdom) but modernizing a country does not give one the right to destroy its own culture. Koreans have been forced to learn and speak only Japanese in this time, in college and thus Koreans are fluent at Japanese yet despise the language.

Koreans freaked out a few years ago because a nationally used Japanese text book claimed things along the lines of what you are saying, the colonization was good for korea, etc.. In fact, what happened to korea - I've been there, I talked to lots of elder Koreans who could literally show their scars to me .

What Japan did to these? Your view is so dumb - Japan ransacked the place, everything from looting amethyst mines to destroying nearly every historic building in the country (try loing a construction in Korea that was built before the Japanese got there, its tough), I don't understand where you are coming off using this concept that the Japanese some how did Korea a favor but you are way off base. In terms of modernizing Korea, the US did a lot more towards this end during and after the war compared to the Japanese did. Koreas real however, thats another story.

So far as the dates you are citing, I don't have time to drag into a thorough history lesson with exact dates. This is a forum and that I was outlining how the Japanese and Korea will always be on different sides of the same troubles. Do you understand what Dok-do is? Likely not! There is not much point in debating about something that you clearly have such a limited knowledge and perspective on. Reunite to trading
You think exactly like Koreans. Are you an American?
If what you call the well-documented atrocities comprise exactly what you see in books such as The Rape of Nanjing where it's filled with a bunch of composite photos and disinformation, then you are dumb.

You need to remember that Japan colonized Korea from accore to global laws. And they were taxpayers.
Giving its taxpayers eduion in its own official language is exactly what a decent government does to its own citizens.
If Koreans back who were considered Japanese citizens weren't given chances to learn what was subsequently their official language of the nation. . .that is discrimination. It could seriously hinder his/her ability to be a part in the society if they aren't properly edued.

The literacy rate of Koreans before the colonization was about 10%. 35 years following the colonization the literacy rate was 90%.

Another interesting quantity is that the average life span of Koreans earlier colonization was 24 years, whereas their average life span has risen to 45 years in people 35 years. It was most likely accomplished by improved nutrition and improved sanitation.

If your government did a dreadful job of cutting the average life span of its citizens to 24 years and literacy rate to a mere 10 percent, then I would call that atrocities. Not to mention Japanese needed to prohibit the act of torturing that was so unkind and rampant in pre-colonization Korea such as torturer disloing one's joint (ouch!) .

On the contrary to your belief, their script hangul was invented by King Sejong of Korea back in 15th century, but it wasn't widely used until Japanese helped standardizing it and teaching it in schools. Korean language was actually a compulsory subject in college from Korea under Japanese colonization.

You look not understand this, but Japanese eduion system was hi-jacked by lests and zainichis. For textbooks are and are still full with claims of what you are saying, along the line.
Not just has eduion system been infected, mass media of Japan are very biased toward this of China/Korea.

I has taken the Japanese mass before the dawn of internet era to find out that they were misinformed/disinformed by the media.
At the same time, they have found out that the most of what Koreans maintain in regard to what happened during colonization era is not really factual.

I need to also mention because you don't appear to understand, the real industrialization/modernization of Korea after 1970's that you talk about had a lot to do with the money Japan paid to Korea from 1966 to 1990 in the amount of 3.6 billion dollars in the money of 1966. That might translate to over 20 billion dollars in today's currency.
But seriously, you should see and see the real pictures of pre-colonization era Korea and following it. Not just talking like you understand.

In the event you are not aware, the absence of important historic buildings is because they never occur. Whatever historically important were there until the colonization should be there unless it had been destroyed after WWII.

And finally, Dokdo is a rock-like formation or islets in Japanese territory from the Sea of Japan that's been illegally occupied by Korea by force. Its name that is original is Takeshima. It is also called Liancourt Rocks.
You might disagree on the definition but if what Koreans are saying has some type of fact in it, they should be willing to take the issue to the International Court of Justice. Japan has been ready.
Until then, no further discussion is applicable. It is always the offenders who has to hide behind the trees and prevent going to the court of justice.

Not related to Dokdo, but individuals commiting perjury in Korea is as prevalent as people speeding in the countries (literally!) . Most of evidence you provide in your argument don't give much credibility...a lot of hearsays, no concrete signs and name-calling. You qualify as a Korean in my own dictionary. All I could say is conglatulations.

    Thanks.

Oh, and let's not overlook that the biological warfare experiments also...
I feel it had a lot to do with the simple fact that using a near-dead neighbor (insolvent and starving) right alongside Japan was egically quite dangerous to the survival of Japan.
You have to look at the background in connection with the situation the entire world was in back then.

At the same point or another, Japan attempted to unite all the Asian countries and make something which may be similar to the EU of today to defend and liberate the entire Asia from the colonialism of all westerners.
For this reason, it is rare to find Asian countries outside of China and Korea which is actually hostile to Japan.

Biological war to me is no different from atomic warfare in that it kills people. Again, you need to look to the world situation of that moment.

As to China, besides what I mentioned in my previous post about Nanjing I am no expert to it. But is that what was tens of thousands became millions of people, and hundreds of thousands that Chinese authorities is citing.
In case you have been attention to their own stance in UN and politics in gereral, their principal focus seems to be the way they leverage their political power for their benefit and that power matches. What is assumed to be anti-Japan demonions by Chinese citizens were at least a movement and they are currently utilizing it as a leverage to restrain Japan.

It is no coincidence that a lot of money was paid to China and Korea from Japan in the past yet still they maintain advertizing a few wrong-doings by Japan over 60 years ago as atrocities. . .that is to pillage money from Japan.

My view is one that is following. . .usa has a big hole in deficit. . .like you dont know,. .and so the big issue of this current govornment is inflation. . .ok. So here comes the FED....but u have improved interest rates . And some thing,. . .so thts from this question...u cant squeze it . . .or can ? . . .so second ting is,. . U got the #733 army push #733; to safeguard another world,. .from terorist, and comunist conutries. . .by invading some oil abundant ofcourse,. . .never mind that,. . .so usa nevertheless has some forces in japan,. . .ofcourse,. . .they have dropped two bombs . .they should influence some of their very own soliders,. . .to be frineds farther,. . .so what does north korea needed to do for this,. . .nothing else,. .just eur/usd was trying to go over 1.2600,. . .ok I guess that they really did test the bomb. . .but when there was of no interest from current usa governement to dealt with this thing,...I strongly belive that they wouldnt go alive on cnn,. . .so YEN will gets fucked. . .besides they obtained two nuklear bombs on hiroshima and nagasaki, they need to address the inflation issue of currency of usa.

All I have to say is if Spartan's variant of history is right, why would be the Japanese so wonderful to the Koreans?

Can they get their fill only from the raping and massacring of (conservative estimates) tens of thousands of Chinese?

Oh, and let's not forget that the biological warfare experiments too...
