Thread: Cornholios Reading Suggestions

  1. #1
UPDATE: I've started a separate thread for Word documents, PDFs, presentations and that kind of stuff. I will still be posting links to posts and articles on this thread, however all documents will be submitted on the new thread. LINK: The PDF thread

UPDATE 2: Who the hell is Cornholio? He is a fictional character from an old cartoon that ran on MTV. He was able tohttp://www.funnyordie.com/videos/6ae...-from-dirttron at times and go crazy, calling himself Cornholio and searching for TP for his bunghole. It was my profile picture. I've attached an image below. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm starting this thread to share the news and articles that I have come across while browsing the web which are either directly or indirectly related to trading, traders' plogy or associated disciplines. Over the years I have come across quite a few articles which are worth discussing. I'm starting a new thread since I have not come across a'linkfest' thread which would be acceptable for the sort of thing that I want to do. I'm not completely sure this (Trading Discussion subforum) is the correct spot for this, therefore in case the admins feel that this thread should be moved to another subforum, please do so.

I would like to encourage people to chip in with their own links, but please avoid submitting a complete list at once. Most of us need a while to digest what's been given to us. So, if you are in possession of a whole list of excellent reading material, may I suggest that you post these links in small portions? Thank you for your consideration.

Also, I want to ask that you mind your manners and language, not just on this particular thread, but elsewhere on this forum too. If you feel angry or full of unwanted emotions, go jog, take a walk or do something to rid yourself of the excess (negative) energy, then return. That is the way I do it, anyway.

What else? Keep it neat, keep it clean!

So, starting away, I would like to provide these links:

Excellent work Bug and Thank You for sharing. I am a huge fan of creating habits (good ones of course). By now you should be well on your way to running a major hedge fund. How is it moving? Where did the studies take you? In my case succesful, but just up to my (bad) habits would allow me to.

I'm really glad you like the thread. Unfortunately I'm not there yet. Life and country got at all. In terms of'life' getting in the way...I'm not gonna bother you with my private stuff, but concerning country, well, I spent the last year serving my nation from the Estonian Defence Forces as an NCO. Estonia is one of the few states that still has conscription (btw, that's not me on the film ). I'm still interested in FX and the markets, but because of a lack of funds I'm not that busy. I didn't get very far with the volatility studies because the period that I did have I invested studying market statistics, which was very interesting indeed.

I have had a lot of success from the markets, but because of bad habits and overreaching I have had to provide all of my profits away and it sucks. I understand that a number of people have found my articles interesting and eduional, but sadly knowledge of something does not produce profits all by its own. Whatever the case, I decided to get a clean slate and start with a minimum of 10 pips in mind. It's a completely new project for me and in case you're interested you can check out my progress here: http://10pipschallenge.blogspot.com/(where I just recently released a post about habits ). At this time I'm in the building and planning (a strategy ) stage and I intend to start trading in the fall. I'm planning for slow, incremental expansion since I have to split my time between researching (uni) and trading.

All the very best to you!

    Hiya,

    I couldn't find the thread so I PM'd you.

This bloke you see on the film....yeah. . .he probably had a pretty busy morning protecting the perimeter (the rifle is on automatic). Some people simply didn't brush their teeth that often, but the ones who did occasionally found themselves, um... multitasking.

Well you have been keeping busy. I've never been to Estonia however, from what I hear, it is a country well worth defending. I will be checking to the 10 pip challenge from time to time.

If you are going to see, do it in the summer ( 25 C) or the dead of winter (-20 C). And allow me to know so that I can provide you a tour.

I've mentioned the importance of exercise before in this thread (see this post), but it bears repeating. Since most of us possess mp3 players or smartphones these days, I thought it better to place a link to a meeting with John Ratey, someone who has done extensive research into the benefits of practice. Just take this hour to listen to what he has to say, since it's worth it. Aside from staying fit rather than going fat there are plenty of other benefits, a few of which can be of fantastic assistance for us as traders. And if you need more, he has a book as well: Spark: The Revolutionary New Science of Exercise and the Brain.

Oh, and as much as the previous article that I connected to goes, well, the bunch of Brain Science Podcast, Ginger Campbell, has done an interview with the author of Brain Requirements Too. Check it out: http://brainsciencpodcast.wordpress..../16/37-medina/

    Podcasts for the win!
