Thread: Do they use stopps per time?

Most traders who use Stops per time do so because they have no confidence in their analysis. If you entered an operation based on a good strategy, why were you going to close it just because it has been a certain time?In my case, I only leave if I see a clear reason in the price, such as a structure break or an invalidation of my analysis. If the market is lateral, I prefer to endure and see what happens before making a hurried decision.

Stops have saved me many times. There is nothing worse than having your capital trapped in an operation that does not move while the rest of the market offers much better opportunities. That is why I have a rule: if in 12 hours the operation has not reached at least 50% of my goal, I close and look for another entry.I prefer to lose a small amount to get caught in a dead position.

If you have problems with operations that do not move, perhaps the problem is not the time, but your selection of entries. You may be entering consolidation areas without realizing it.Instead of using stops per time, try to better analyze the market context. If an operation does not move, it may be that the entrance timing was bad and not that the analysis is wrong.

I find it interesting how some defend the stops per time as if they were the solution to all problems. The reality is that the market does not know or care how long you have been in an operation. If you leave just because they have spent hours, you are basically pulling a coin in the air.You may have left just before the movement you were waiting. If that happens to you, maybe you should rethink this strategy.

Stops for a time help me to stay disciplined. Before, when an operation did not move, I was seeing it for hours without knowing what to do.Now I have clear rules. If after 8 hours there is no movement, I close without hesitation. This allows me to be more efficient and stay focused on opportunities with more potential.

Why do people insist on complicating things like Stops for time when the answer has always been risk management? If you handle your price stops and adjust your position size correctly, you don't need to worry about how long you have been in an operation. It's like worrying about the color of the car instead of learning to drive.

I don't understand the concept of "closing because it spent a lot of time."If your analysis is correct, what does it matter if it takes 5 hours or 50 hours? The only reason I would consider a stop for a time is if I operate with a limited capital and I need to release margin for another better opportunity. But if I have enough capital, I prefer to wait.

Stops per time are good if you operate in very short temporalities, such as M1 or M5, where every second counts. But in graphics of 1 hour or more, the market needs time to develop significant movements. If you use Stops for time in those frames, you are probably coming out too soon.

If you use stops per time, be sure to do it with a logic behind. It is not just about closing because x candles have passed, but to understand when your analysis is no longer valid. In my case, if an operation does not move in 6 1 hour candles, I begin to reduce my exposure. But if the context is still favorable, I can leave it open longer.

Patience is a virtue in trading.Sometimes, the market needs more time than we expect to prove us right. If you close operations just because they do not move fast, you will miss many good opportunities.Learn to differentiate between normal consolidations and signs that your analysis is wrong.
