Thread: Swing Trading Simple System?

  1. #11
There are days when the market does nothing. That’s normal. This system also has flat days. The important thing is the set of operations, not each. Don’t expect daily action. Swing trading is based on capturing wide movements, not on being opening and closing every two hours.

If someone wants to make improvements, welcome. This is a foundation, not a sacred recipe. You can add filters, change conditions, experience. The important thing is that you keep the logic of simplicity and that you do tests before you operate in real. Do not skip steps.

I have received several questions about whether to use trailing stop. My answer: only if you know what you are doing. A poorly placed trailing can pull out a potential operation. I prefer fixed targets and move the stop to breakeven only if it moves at least 1R in favor. But everyone can adjust it to their style.

Does it bother you that the system does not have indicators? Then this method is not for you. There are people who feel naked without RSI or MACD on screen. Here the price commands. Only price action and risk management. If that makes you nervous, look for another strategy.

This is not a magic solution, but it is a logical and proven way to approach the market. Less noise, more order. There are too many people complicating something that can be simple. If you try it and it works, great. If not, keep looking, but don’t criticize without trying.

To those who are starting: don’t get obsessed with winning every day. This type of systems earn by consistency, not by frequency. Instead of looking for daily adrenaline, it better looks for emotional control. It’s more profitable.

Are you afraid to leave open orders at night? So this isn’t for you. Swing requires assuming some exposure to the market. Obviously there are ways to minimize risks, but if you don’t sleep quietly with an open operation, reconsider this style of trading.

A practical tip: place the orders at the close of the daily candle, not during the day. So you avoid going into confusing ranges or with false movements. Patience pays. If you enter ahead of time, you may be going ahead to the market and that never ends well.

I've had weeks of 5 operations and others of just one. The key is not to force tickets. The system is there to filter, not to give you daily excitement. If you don't know how to wait, the market will take care of teaching you... with losses.

One suggestion that I was given and that I am testing: add volume as a filter. When there is rupture with high volume, there is usually more follow-up. I am still testing in different pairs, but it seems promising. If someone else wants to test it, it would be great to share results. (Follow up with more numbered answers if required.
