Thread: What broker with variable spread really fits for scalping?

  1. #1
Hello everyone, I’m looking for a variable spread broker that works well for scalping in larger pairs like EURUSD and GBPUSD. I’ve tried some promising low spreads, but at the time of entry into the operation, the spread triggers and ends up devouring any gains. Does anyone have real experience with one that is really usable without hidden commissions or exaggerated slippage?

I've tried IC Markets and although they promise spreads since 0.0, the truth is that in times of volatility the spread goes to the clouds. I don't know if it's a broker's problem or just the nature of the market. But if you're scalping, every pip counts, so be careful.

Well I with Pepperstone am quite happy. Use Razor with cTrader and spreads usually stay low even on minor news. Yes, note that there are no miracles. If you're going to slip into NFP or FOMC, don't expect stability in any brokers.

Scalping with variable spread? Good luck. It’s like trying to run on a tape that changes speed every two seconds. If you’re serious about scalping, look for ECN account with fixed commission and ultra fast execution. The rest is a disguised scam.

I used FXTM and it was a nightmare. Slippage even in flat markets and spreads that do not reflect what you see on the screen. Once I entered with 0.9 spread and it was executed with 3.1. Never again.

Personally, I've done well with Tickmill. Spreads are quite tight in normal conditions, and execution is fast. It's best that they don't put ridiculous restrictions as a minimum time between operations.

Let's see if we understand it: if you're going to operate with variable spread, you need to have a system that tolerates minimal variations. If every time you raise a point already affects your operative, it's not the broker's fault, it's that your strategy is weak.

I am testing Eightcap and so far behaves. They have good integrations with MT4 and MT5, and with RAW account the spread is very low. Yes, swaps are not the most competitive if you plan to leave open trades.

Has anyone tried Darwinex for scalping? I’m interested in your more institutional approach, but I’m not sure if the variable spread you drive is viable to get in and out quickly. Any experience?

Yes, Darwinex is not for scalping. Its latency is greater than other more retail-oriented brokers, and although its spreads are fine, execution is not its strong. It is more for swing or account management.
